Carrie R. Moore is the author of the story collection Make Your Way Home, which won the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award in Fiction. Among other publications, her writing has appeared in The Best American Short Stories, Oprah Daily, American Short Fiction, The Sewanee Review, and One Story. She earned her MFA at the Michener Center for Writers, where she won the Keene Prize for Literature and went on to become the inaugural Writer-In-Residence at the Steinbeck Writers’ Retreat. In 2026, the National Book Foundation named her a 5 under 35 honoree. Born in Georgia, she resides in Texas with her husband, where she writes about Black love and longing.
